Vacant Lots to Parks

The Vacant Lots to Parks program are one way a block can add color and flavor to its surroundings.   They help to fight pollution, provide habitat for pollinators and birds in urban settings and help to control temperatures and humidity. Green zones also provide a place for people to socialize.  St. Louis once was a city of over 800,000 people today the population sits at just above 300,000.

One might argue with large swaths of vacant lots and buildings in the City of St. Louis, and factors such as crime, aging and declining population, and educational opportunities that a Vacant Lots to Parks program is an ideal land use given development is depressed for the north side of St. Louis.
